Because we only had a 1.5 days left of our trip, we didn’t have an exact schedule for Venice. Few things I wanted to see and do in Venice were:
- Piazza San Marco, Doge’s palace
- Grand canal
- Saint Mark’s Basilica and Square
- Gondola ride
- Bridge of Sighs
- Murano Island/ Burano Island
- Santa Croce
Looking back, I’m glad that I didn’t have anything planned (Except for having a reservation at Trattoria Al Gatto Nero) because all we did in Venice was wandering around the canals and bridges and carefully getting lost. As we got lost in Venice, we found ourselves discovering most of the things we wanted to see as we went.
Good pastries and cakes make me instantly happy. By Blackbird is one of the places that comes to my mind when I have cravings for good desserts in Adelaide.
It’s a cute little cafe on King William Road which is a great venue for catch ups over delicious desserts. Their pastries and (mini) cakes I’ve had so far were all exceptionally delicious. They are a work of art that is delicate, well-constructed, and too pretty looking to eat. Along with their excellent pastries, they have good coffees and a wide range of tea selection as well.
I’ve been told that they also do an amazing job on custom cakes. Having tried their mini-cakes, I’m not surprised about this at all.

My husband and I have been shopping at Adelaide’s Central Market for years now. This place has all things that I love: the fresh seasonal produces, specialty shops, local flowers, delicious coffee, cheese and pastries, and good variety of restaurants and food stalls. It is also one of the lively, dynamic and peacefully-chaotic place in Adelaide making it a great place even just to hang out. Recently, I’ve noticed that there are quite number of new food stalls in Central Market that I haven’t been to, and one of them which really caught my attention was this stall called Comida Catering Co. that had paella in a giant pan.
When we got there, the chef told us that paella won’t be ready till 730pm. We sat at the bar facing their open kitchen and enjoyed couple of their other dishes and sangria. From tapas menu, we had Spanish omelette dish (Tortilla) and crispy potatoes (Bravas), which were both quite delicious. From their sharing plates, we decided to try the one with the beef tongue. I really liked the crispy potatoes dish, and I’m sure that I wasn’t the only one because everyone else was having them and they all looked pretty content.
I’ve been using Foreo Luna mini 2 for past few months. I remember using this for the first time and being really impressed as it left my skin feeling deeply cleansed like never before! Prior to purchasing Foreo Luna, I did wonder whether I should purchase Clarisonic instead or not. After further research online, and getting some feedback from friends that are using Clarisonic I decided to give Foreo Luna a try, and I’m glad that I did.
Whilst I was planning for this trip, I found out that there are couple of outlet malls near Florence. I wanted to find some gifts for our parents and a nice suit for hubby. The two outlet malls near Florence are:
- Prada Space/Outlet – This place is a giant Prada/Miu miu shop. It takes about an hour to get there from Florence by train to Montevarchi then a short taxi ride to the outlet.
- The Mall – This is an outlet mall complex with popular brands like Prada, Gucci, Burberry, Lanvin, YSL, Tom Ford, Ferragamo, Versace, Valentino, etc. This is where we decided to go to.
How to get to The Mall
The easiest way get there is to hop on the direct bus, leaving from BUSITALIA/SITA depot (Via Santa Caterina da Siena 17, Florence, which is located right next to the Santa Maria Novella Station) and drops you of at the bus stop right in the middle of the outlet mall complex.
One-way ticket cost: 7.00€.
Round trip ticket cost: 13.00 €.
I can think of at least couple of restaurants when it comes to finding good pizza places in Adelaide. My current favourite pizza place in Adelaide would have to be Tony Tomatoes. I have been there numerous times (mostly for their pizzas and small sharing plates) and I found them consistently incredibly delicious every time! Located on O’Connell St in North Adelaide, this is a quite popular spot. We got lucky and managed to walk in on a Friday evening as we got there little early, but by the time we left there was a long line up.
