Osteria Oggi is a relatively new Italian restaurant located on Pirie Street, popular for their delicious pastas and a beautiful decor. They are even listed as one of the world’s new restaurants to try on cnn.com. This time, as we were going in a bigger group of 5, we decided to finally try their banquet menu. Despite the fact that one of us was a vego and another friend didn’t enjoy seafood, the waiter informed us that banquet menu can accommodate all our dietary requirements and preferences which was great.
The Banquet menu started with beef and fish capaccio dishes.
Osteria Oggi specializes in pasta and they do them incredibly well. They are cooked perfectly with fresh ingredients with layers of flavours. There were four pasta dishes that came out for five of us. Spaghetti Carbonara has been absolutely delicious every time I had them. Tagliatelle (beef ragu, roasted bone marrow) and kale pasta was great too. All the vegetarian dishes that came out for our friend was also simply delicious.
At this point, we were all pretty full and we assumed that the next course would be desserts. Boy we were wrong. Next dish up was roasted shoulder of Tamworth Pork with pickled fennel, orange and mint.
For desserts, we had Tiramisu, red wine poached pear with ginger ice cream, and ?Hazelnut cream.
Osteria Oggi is a perfect venue for bigger groups and I would highly recommend going with their banquet menu. Not only it allows you to try various dishes as you share it with your friends and family and you simply get fed really, really well. However, if you are not up for their banquet menu, I would highly recommend trying one of their pastas along with their other smaller dishes as I think they make one of the best pastas – far better than some that I had in Italy!
The venue is perfect if you are someone like me who appreciate open space with high-ceilings, perfect lighting and good amount of noise level. It makes it a perfect venue for a casual catch up, date night or a group events.
ps. They make mean Aperol Spritz!
