I remember when I first found out about pick-your-own fig orchard in Adelaide hills, I knew that I just had to be there. Ever since, beginning of each year, my husband and I have been to Glen Ewin Estate (or Wilabrand Fig Orchard) for a fun and relaxing day out picking (and eating lots of) delicious figs.
The Glen Ewin Estate is a quite picturesque place. The venue is surrounded by fig orchard and mature tall trees everywhere.
There are plenty of ripe figs for everyone and many varieties to choose from. ‘pick your own’ figs were $10 per kilo with $2 for a box.
Fig picking just got better this year.
There’s a new ‘fig bar’ this year where you can buy wine and cheese to enjoy with fresh figs in their picnic area. In addition, there is a ‘Fignic in a orchard’. It’s a one day event where you get to hang out with your loved ones under the sun with fresh figs, bread, cheese, wine, chocolates.
Next Fig picking season starts in February 2017. I feel like I need to explore Adelaide Hills bit more, let me know if there are any good restaurants/ cellar doors / other fun activities that I must try!
