Living in the city has it’s perks and I think one of them is having good cafes, restaurants and bars within a walking distance. Ballaboosta is located just off Hutt Street, and it looks like it is already becoming a local’s favourite. When we got there on a late Sunday morning, it was pretty packed. The first thing I noticed as we walked in was the statement on the wall, that “Ballaboosta” means “the perfect wife” and that they aim to provide delicious homemade meals in combination of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern style.
We decided to get the two dishes from the brunch menu, not really knowing what kind of food we were getting. Conceptually it was a breakfast pizza on a thin crust… but it was more than that. The base was nice and crispy and the toppings worked really well together. The part that I liked the most about this place was that it really did feel like I was having a meal as a guest. This rustic cuisine from Ballaboosta was not only interesting to me as they were foreign, but also very warm and inviting.
I’m definitely going to try more dishes other than the breakfast ones on my next visit. They looked amazing!
